About Stevensville

Part of the Lakeshore area, Stevensville is located in Berrien County, situated in the southwestern part of Michigan. The county is bordered by 42 miles of lovely Lake Michigan. Stevensville is a small community with a population of just over 2,000. The rugged beauty of the area is evident along miles of lakeshore as well as in the aromatic vineyards that dot the countryside. Public access to the beaches of Lake Michigan provide visitors with opportunities for plenty of water related outdoor activities such as swimming, boating, water skiing, and fishing. Southwestern Michigan produces much of the grape crop for the entire state, and therefore the area boasts a number of fine wineries. Many are within a short driving distance of Stevensville. Visit Karma Vista Vineyards in Coloma or Heart of the Vine in Baroda to learn more about grape growing and wine making in this distinctive area of the country. The city of Stevensville itself has just recently focused its efforts on a downtown reconstruction project, providing the area with new street lights, red brick pavers, and new sidewalks. Local businesses and townspeople raised money for the purchase of a beautiful historic clock tower that graces the northwest corner of St. Joseph Avenue. Just to the north of Stevensville, St. Joseph makes for a nice day trip. This sister city to Stevensville proudly houses the Krasl Art Center, which maintains 22 area outdoor, historic sculptures. Directions for a self-guided tour of the sculptures located throughout Berrien County can be obtained at Krasl. St. Joseph also features the historic St. Joseph Lighthouse, which dates back to 1832 and is located on the North Pier.
